Our client is seeking a Content Creator/Art Director with a focus on digital marketing communications This is a 12 month contract (40 hours a week) with potential to extend. Houston based candidates preferred but remote flexible for the right candidate. Must be able to work CST hours if located in another timezone.
Overview
This role is a hands-on creative who combines strong writing and editorial skills with visual design and video capabilities to create compelling content for the company’s newsletters, email communications and website. Working as part of an integrated creative pod, this role takes communications briefs, ideas and source material and turns them into polished, finished content — often owning both the words and the visual execution.
This is an early-career role. We’re looking for someone with 1–3 years of experience at an advertising agency or corporate creative studio who has already built a body of independent, conceptual work across writing, design and video — content you dreamed up and made yourself, not only assets produced against someone else’s brief. Success means taking ownership of finished editorial content, moving work from idea to execution quickly, and knowing when an assignment can be handled independently versus when deeper specialist expertise is needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create content for newsletters, email communications, website updates and broader editorial storytelling, along with supporting social and digital formats
- Translate communications briefs, source material and business objectives into clear, engaging and visually compelling content
- Write, edit and refine copy across long-form, short-form and email/newsletter formats, adapting voice and approach for different channels and audiences
- Concept and design visual assets for web, email and editorial communications, working within established brand systems
- Bring copy, design and visual storytelling together to create cohesive finished work rather than treating writing and design as separate steps
- Support lightweight video content — from concept and scripting to basic capture and editing — for editorial and communications needs
- Partner with Content Editors, Communications Advisors and Integrated Producers to determine the most effective creative approach for each assignment
- Manage multiple assignments and quick-turn requests while ensuring final work meets editorial, brand, accessibility, technical and required review standards
What Makes You Qualified
- 1–3 years of experience across content creation, writing, editing, design or a related creative discipline, at an advertising agency or corporate in-house creative studio
- A portfolio of editorial, email or web content — and ideally video — that you conceived and created independently, not only work produced against someone else’s brief
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a solid command of grammar, tone, voice and editorial standards
- Solid visual design skills, including typography and layout, with the ability to work within established brand systems
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and/or comparable design and content creation platforms
- Ability to take an assignment from brief or source material through polished creative execution with limited handoffs
- Experience creating content on Sitecore, Staffbase and/or Marketo is a plus
- Photography, motion and/or lightweight video capture and editing skills are a plus
- Collaborative, adaptable and comfortable owning work independently while partnering with specialized creatives when deeper expertise is needed
