Position Title: Technical Writer
Clearance Requirement: Secret or higher
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 12-month contract to hire
Compensation Range: $40-$55/hour – potential for higher depending on experience
Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor's degree + 5 years related experience, OR Master's degree + 3 years, OR PhD + 1 year -Active Secret Clearance - Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance
- Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documentation
- Experience partnering with SMEs to improve technical documentation accuracy and clarity
- Strong technical writing and editing skills
- Expertise editing technical reports, requirements documents, procedures, manuals, and proposals
- Proficiency with: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across teams, leadership, and customers
- Detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently and within a team
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Understanding of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)
- Knowledge of Configuration Management processes
- Understanding of Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and document portion markings
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Jira experience and best practices knowledge
- Defense industry documentation and publication experience
