Freelance / Part-Time | New York City | Hybrid + In-Person Content Creation
About SYRCLE
SYRCLE is a new NYC social community creating intentional experiences designed to help adults meet, connect, and build real friendships.
We’re building around a simple belief: meeting people isn’t necessarily the hard part. Building real relationships requires repeated interaction, shared experiences, familiarity, and time.
As we launch in New York City, we’re looking for a creative, socially confident, growth-minded person to help build SYRCLE’s audience and online community from the ground up.
The Role
This is not a traditional social media management role.
We’re not looking for someone to simply create Canva graphics, schedule posts, or maintain an existing audience.
SYRCLE is starting from the ground up. Your job is to help us build the audience.
You’ll develop and execute an organic content and community growth strategy across TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and LinkedIn, with an emphasis on short-form video, culturally relevant conversations, community engagement, and creative ways to get SYRCLE in front of adults across NYC.
This is a hands-on role. You should be comfortable getting out into New York City to create content, film interviews, capture lifestyle/community footage, attend SYRCLE experiences, and turn ideas into engaging social content.
What You’ll Do
* Develop SYRCLE’s organic social and community growth strategy from zero
* Concept, film, edit, and publish short-form content for TikTok and Instagram Reels
* Develop recurring, recognizable content series around adult friendship, NYC social life, community, connection, hobbies, and shared experiences
* Create NYC-based content including street interviews, social experiments, conversations, B-roll, voiceover content, and other original concepts
* Identify trends and translate them into content that makes sense for SYRCLE rather than simply copying what’s trending
* Build and manage SYRCLE’s presence across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and LinkedIn
* Participate in relevant online conversations and communities to organically introduce new people to SYRCLE
* Create conversational Threads content designed to generate discussion and community
* Develop thoughtful LinkedIn content around SYRCLE’s mission, community-building, adult friendship, third places, and the process of building the company
* Create occasional graphics, carousels, event promotion, and informational content when appropriate
* Support promotion of upcoming SYRCLE experiences without making the entire social strategy about selling tickets
* Identify opportunities for organic creator collaborations, UGC, community partnerships, and cross-promotion
* Engage with followers, creators, businesses, and relevant NYC communities
* Turn event attendees and partner audiences into long-term SYRCLE followers/community members
* Track what content actually drives non-follower reach, profile visits, followers, engagement, sign-ups, traffic, and eventually ticket sales
* Regularly test new formats and adjust strategy based on performance
Who We’re Looking For
You may come from social media, content creation, community building, audience development, creator marketing, or a combination of these.
We’re especially interested in someone who:
* Is based in NYC and available to create content in person
* Is highly comfortable filming and editing short-form video independently
* Understands TikTok and Instagram Reels as discovery platforms, not just places to post
* Has experience growing an account, brand, creator, or community organically
* Can show examples of content they personally concepted, filmed, edited, or grew
* Understands hooks, storytelling, retention, shareability, and social trends
* Is comfortable approaching and speaking with strangers for content when appropriate
* Is socially confident, curious, creative, resourceful, and culturally aware
* Understands NYC culture and keeps up with what’s happening across the city
* Has strong writing skills and can adapt SYRCLE’s voice across different platforms
* Can work independently and bring ideas rather than waiting for detailed instructions for every post
* Thinks about audience growth and community building, not just aesthetics
* Is excited about building something from the beginning
This Role Is Probably Not for You If…
Your primary experience is creating static graphics or Canva templates.
You prefer receiving finished content to schedule rather than creating content yourself.
You need an established audience before you know how to grow an account.
You’re uncomfortable filming in public or interacting with people in NYC.
You measure social media success primarily by how consistently you posted.
What Success Looks Like
We are not measuring success by simply posting a certain number of times per week.
We want to see SYRCLE build a real, relevant NYC audience.
Success will be evaluated through organic reach to new audiences, relevant follower growth, content performance, community engagement, profile visits, sign-ups, creator/community relationships, traffic to SYRCLE experiences, and eventually conversion into attendees and members.
30 Day Pilot Compensation: $30–$35/hour, approximately 10–15 hours per week. Freelance/contract position with potential to expand based on performance and company growth.
To Apply
Please submit:
1. A short introduction and why you’re interested in building SYRCLE’s audience.
2. Links to 3–5 pieces of short-form content you personally helped concept, film, edit, or grow. Please explain your contribution.
3. An example of an account, brand, creator, or community you’ve helped grow, including what you specifically did.
4. Briefly answer: If SYRCLE had essentially zero active followers today, what are the first three things you would do to begin reaching the right people in NYC?
Please do not submit a portfolio consisting only of static graphics or Canva designs. We’re specifically looking for hands-on short-form content creation and organic audience-building experience.
