Proposal WriterPosition Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Proposal Writer to support the development of proposals, responses, and other business development materials for government and commercial opportunities.
This role will work closely with leadership, technical teams, and business development to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, compelling, and compliant proposal content. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can quickly understand technical subject matter, manage multiple deadlines, and produce high-quality submissions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and coordinate proposals in response to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, Sources Sought notices, and other government and commercial opportunities.
- Review solicitation requirements and help develop compliant response structures, outlines, and submission plans.
- Translate technical information into clear, persuasive content tailored to government and commercial audiences.
- Collaborate with technical, business development, operations, and leadership teams to gather required information.
- Develop and maintain reusable proposal content, company qualifications, past performance information, capabilities statements, and supporting materials.
- Edit proposal content for clarity, consistency, accuracy, tone, and compliance with solicitation requirements.
- Coordinate inputs from internal and external contributors and track proposal deadlines and deliverables.
- Support final proposal production, formatting, quality control, and submission.
- Research prospective opportunities, agencies, programs, and customer requirements when needed.
- Maintain organized records of proposals, supporting documentation, and reusable content.
- Assist with presentations, capability statements, white papers, and other business development materials.
Qualifications
- Excellent professional and technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience developing proposals, technical documentation, government responses, or similar professional materials.
- Ability to interpret RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and other solicitation documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex submission requirements.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them clearly to different audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and collaborative document platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Technical Writing, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with U.S. federal government contracting or defense-related proposals.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes and contracting terminology.
- Experience supporting DoD, federal civilian agency, or national security customers.
- Familiarity with SAM.gov and other government contracting resources.
- Experience working with engineering, technology, defense, aerospace, or software organizations.
- Familiarity with proposal management methodologies and color-team reviews is a plus.
