Job Description
We are seeking a Grant Coordinator / Grant Writer for a temporary-to-permanent opportunity in Miami, Florida. This role is 100% onsite and ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in grant development, compliance, reporting, and funding research, preferably within the public sector, law enforcement, or public safety environment.
The Grant Coordinator / Grant Writer will support the full grant lifecycle, including researching funding opportunities, preparing applications, compiling required documentation, monitoring deadlines, and maintaining compliance with grantor requirements. This individual will also serve as a key internal resource for grant-related procedures, policies, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify federal, state, and local grant opportunities aligned with departmental needs.
- Prepare, draft, and coordinate grant applications, proposals, supporting documentation, and audit materials.
- Communicate directly with grantor agencies to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and support submission accuracy.
- Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, reporting deadlines, correspondence, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare statistical summaries, funding analyses, and internal briefings for leadership and command staff.
- Monitor grant compliance requirements, reporting obligations, and implementation timelines.
- Serve as a departmental point of contact for grant-related inquiries and provide guidance to supervisors and staff regarding procedures and policies.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of grant development, proposal writing, and public sector funding mechanisms.
- Experience working with federal, state, and local grant regulations, reporting requirements, and compliance standards.
- Understanding of organizational operations, administrative procedures, and funding implementation processes.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate funding opportunities and synthesize programmatic and financial data.
- Familiarity with budgeting practices, allowable cost principles, and financial tracking methods used in grant administration.
- Ability to interpret complex grant guidelines, statutes, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, persuasive, and technically accurate narratives.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, funding agencies, and community partners.
Preferred Background
- Prior experience supporting grants in a government, municipality, law enforcement, public safety, or similar regulated environment.
