Role Description The Social Media Video Editor is responsible for editing short-form video content optimized for social platforms, including TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging channels. Day-to-day tasks include assembling and refining raw footage, adding graphics, captions, music, and effects, and adapting content to different aspect ratios and platform-specific formats. The role also collaborates with creative directors, producers, and social strategists to interpret briefs, maintain brand consistency, and deliver content on tight timelines. This is a contract, on-site role based in Burbank, CA, requiring regular coordination with in-house teams and participation in reviews, feedback sessions, and potential on-set capture support as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong video editing skills using professional software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve), with a portfolio of short-form social content.
- Experience creating platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other social channels, including vertical video, captions, and trending formats.
- Ability to incorporate motion graphics, typography, and basic visual effects, ideally using tools such as Adobe After Effects or similar.
- Demonstrated understanding of social media trends, audience engagement, and data-driven creative optimization.
- Strong storytelling, pacing, and sound design skills, with attention to detail in color, audio levels, and overall quality.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to interpret creative briefs and respond constructively to feedback.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and adapt quickly to evolving priorities.
- Relevant experience in content creation, digital media, or post-production; a degree or formal training in film, media, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
