Role Description
The Grants Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. This position is responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities that align with Shared Rivers’ mission and programs, and developing compelling proposals and narratives for foundations, government agencies, and other funders. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating grant calendars, drafting and editing applications, preparing supporting materials, and ensuring timely submission of all grant-related documents. The Grants Writer will work closely with program and finance staff to gather data, develop budgets, and report on outcomes, while maintaining accurate grant records and compliance with funder requirements. The role also involves building relationships with funders and supporting broader fundraising efforts as needed.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Grant Writing and Proposal Writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and mission-aligned narratives.
- Candidates should possess Grant Administration skills, including managing deadlines, tracking requirements, and maintaining accurate grant documentation.
- Candidates should possess Prospect Research skills to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential funding sources.
- Candidates should possess Fundraising skills, including collaborating on donor stewardship, reporting, and campaign support.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze data and program information to develop strong cases for support and measurable outcomes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in nonprofit or environmental organizations is beneficial; familiarity with community engagement or education is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as English, Communications, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or related discipline), or equivalent professional experience.
