Position Summary
Visit West Hollywood is hiring a Content Manager to lead the day-to-day creation and management of content across our website, social media channels, and supporting marketing materials. This is a hybrid role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on production. The right candidate can plan a content calendar, write a blog post, brief a designer, manage a photo library, and judge whether a piece of content sounds like and represents West Hollywood.
We are looking for someone with real experience in content and digital marketing who is ready to own a destination’s voice. This role resources and manages content creators, writers, photographers, and videographers.
The Content Manager reports to the Vice President of Marketing and works closely with the marketing department, outside agencies, the website development agency, and other internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Do
This role combines hands-on execution with the management of freelancers and agencies, and moves between time in the city capturing content and time at the desk producing it. The scope of the job is covered below.
Website Content
Write, edit, and publish content for visitwesthollywood.com, including blog posts, neighborhood and hotel features, event coverage, and seasonal updates. Keep the website current, accurate, and aligned with what is happening in West Hollywood. Review site content on a regular schedule to retire outdated content and refresh what needs updated information. Apply SEO/AEO/GEO practices and stay current on how AI-driven search and discovery tools are changing the way travelers find destination content.
Social Media
Develop content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms and manage community engagement. Write captions and develop visual concepts that reflect the brand voice and
communication pillars outlined in our brand guidelines. Review and approve content from partners and contractors to confirm it meets our standards before it goes live.
Brand Consistency
Serve as a checkpoint for brand voice and visual consistency across every piece of content Visit West Hollywood produces, whether it originates internally, with an agency, or with a partner. Apply the brand’s voice and visual standards consistently.
Content Creators and Influencers
Source and manage freelance writers, photographers, and videographers to support content needs across the website, social media, and print materials. Brief creators on assignments, review their work for quality and brand fit, and manage timelines and deliverables. Oversee influencer partnerships, whether managed directly or through an outside agency, including identifying potential partners, coordinating activations, and confirming that content delivered meets brand standards.
Photo and Video Library
Manage the digital asset management (DAM) system that houses our photography and video library. Keep images and footage properly tagged, titled, and organized so that staff, agencies, and partners can find what they need quickly.
Print and Trade Materials
Manage the development of consumer and trade content pieces, including the annual Visitors Guide, sales brochures for the Sales Department, and content for West Hollywood University. Take on new content pieces as the organization’s needs evolve.
Cross-Functional Support
Support paid media campaigns by supplying content, imagery, and copy as needed. Work with advertising and PR partners to confirm they have access to current materials, messaging, and brand assets.
What We Are Looking For
Experience
• Three to five years of experience in content creation, content management, digital marketing, or a closely related field.
• Experience with a destination marketing organization, hospitality brand, or tourism-related business is a strong plus, though not required.
Skills
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format across blog posts, social captions, email content, and print materials.
• A genuine eye for photography and visual storytelling, even if you are not a professional photographer or designer yourself.
• Working knowledge of WordPress.
• Comfort with Canva or similar tools for basic visual asset creation. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
• Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools.
• Basic understanding of SEO/AEO/GEO and how AI search tools are changing content discovery.
Working Style
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects with different timelines at once.
• The ability to see the overall content strategy while still executing the details correctly.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift with the season, the news cycle, or an unexpected opportunity.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work well with internal teams, outside agencies, and community partners.
• Sound judgment about what represents the brand well and what does not.
About the West Hollywood Brand
