Role Overview
Job Title: CFO Reporter
Location: Remote, New York preferred
About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced journalist to lead the editorial vision and day-to-day execution of CFO Upside, a new vertical covering finance leadership, corporate strategy, and the evolving role of the modern CFO. This is a rare opportunity to build an editorial product from the ground up, shaping its voice, sourcing strategy, and content mix from day one.
The ideal candidate has the ability to write with clarity, technical accuracy, and creativity for a sophisticated, time-strapped executive audience. The role will also require a self-starter with knowledge of corporate finance and a strong source network.
Responsibilities:
- Create daily content focused on trends shaping corporate finance and executive decision-making. Work closely with editorial leadership to refine the vision for the product to differentiate us from existing editorial products.
- Build and maintain a robust network of industry sources to create high-impact, enterprise journalism.
- Own the ideation and execution of the weekly newsletter with high-quality editorial spanning deal coverage, M&A and restructuring analysis, and CFO career and leadership insights.
- Produce additional web-only stories to support audience growth, SEO initiatives, and timely coverage needs.
- Host a once week podcast that showcases industry insights, expert interviews, and original reporting.
- Conduct interviews with top CFOs and thought leaders.
- Participate in industry conferences and podcasts, and elevate the awareness of our brand in the ecosystem.
Requirements:
- 5-plus years of professional experience preferably covering corporate finance, accounting, treasury, or CFO-focused publications, with a strong understanding of the evolving finance leadership landscape.
- Strong reporting skills and comfort working in a fast-paced news environment and on deadline.
- High attention to detail, strong writing skills, excellent time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to tell data-driven stories.
- Experience applying brand voice and tone across assets while distilling technical information in a concise and effective manner.
- Proficiency in project management tools, communication platforms, and creative production suites.
