As I Am is the textured-hair brand people trust because a real family still runs it — the same family that started it in 1984, not a private-equity spreadsheet, not a holding company. Here's what that means day to day: the person who answers when something breaks has the same last name as the person who founded the lab. Rosemary Water is already a TikTok Shop hero. Our curls, coils, strands, waves, and spirals show up on Walmart shelves, Target aisles, Sally endcaps, and your FYP. We make the stuff. We want you to make it move.
The part you're here for: the viral bonus
We're paying a bonus when your content goes viral. Not a "nice job" bonus — an actual, built-in, this-is-the-differentiator-of-the-role bonus. We'll define the exact threshold together and walk through the full structure in the interview, but this is real, and it's front and center because it's the whole point of the job.
What you'll actually be doing
- Shooting and editing native, low-fi, phone-first short-form for TikTok and Reels — no corporate gloss, no stock-footage energy
- Jumping on trends and sounds the day they pop, not the week after
- Capturing real product moments — texture, technique, transformation, wash days, the good stuff
- Capturing the other real stuff: the chaos of a family-run manufacturer, what's in the R&D fridge this week, the person who's worked here forever and has opinions
- Feeding our social team a steady, postable stream — you're the content engine, they're the strategy
- Coming into our Melrose Park, IL headquarters to actually be part of it — this is hybrid, but the chaos doesn't happen over Zoom
You might be our person if…
- Your personal TikTok or IG has actually performed — views, saves, comments, a video that got away from you in a good way. That account is your portfolio. We'll watch it before we read anything else.
- You shoot and edit phone-first. CapCut is basically a second language.
- You know what sound is having a moment this week, not last quarter.
- You're comfortable on camera and don't need three takes to relax into it.
- Bonus, not a dealbreaker: you're fluent in the curl/coil/strand/wave/texture community — you know the difference between a wash-and-go win and a wash-and-go tragedy.
The offer
- Hybrid, with real in-person time at our Melrose Park, IL headquarters (Chicago metro)
- Pay: $40,000 - $60,000
- Benefits: Health/dental, 401(k) match, PTO
- A viral bonus on top of base pay — structure and threshold discussed and defined together during the interview
