About The Role
We are looking for a senior-level art director who understands how modern beauty audiences discover, engage with, and shop for products across today’s digital landscape. This freelance opportunity is ideal for a creative leader who thrives in social-first environments and knows how to shape compelling visual storytelling for fast-moving platforms, creator ecosystems, and commerce-driven channels.
In this role, you will develop and execute platform-native creative that connects brand storytelling with performance outcomes. You will bring a strong point of view to content across social media, short-form video, creator partnerships, paid media, and social commerce, helping brands show up in ways that feel relevant, engaging, and conversion-minded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead art direction for social-first campaigns, digital content initiatives, and commerce-focused creative programs.
- Concept and design visually compelling content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, and other emerging channels.
- Create high-impact creative tailored to audience behavior, platform trends, and social performance goals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across social, influencer, ecommerce, media, and marketing to deliver integrated creative solutions.
- Art direct creator, influencer, user-generated, and livestream content while maintaining strong visual standards and brand consistency.
- Translate cultural insights, social trends, and consumer behavior into timely creative concepts.
- Drive innovation in short-form video, motion design, storytelling, and evolving digital formats.
- Collaborate with copywriters, designers, photographers, videographers, editors, and external creators to bring campaigns to life.
- Ensure content is optimized for channel-specific best practices, audience engagement, and conversion performance.
- Support rapid concepting, testing, iteration, and creative refinement based on performance insights.
- Work closely with project management and partner teams to deliver high-quality work efficiently and on schedule.
- Stay current on developments in social commerce, creator marketing, affiliate content, and livestream shopping.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in art direction, creative design, or content development, with a strong emphasis on digital and social-first work.
- Proven experience creating content for major social platforms and commerce-driven digital channels.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates excellence in social campaigns, creator-led content, short-form video, and performance-oriented creative.
- Deep knowledge of influencer marketing, social commerce trends, affiliate content, and digital consumer behavior.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, with additional experience in motion graphics and video editing tools preferred.
- Strong understanding of platform trends, content formats, and social best practices.
- Experience directing photography, video shoots, creator collaborations, and UGC-inspired content.
- Ability to balance brand-building creative with measurable business and performance objectives.
- Comfort using data and campaign insights to inform creative decisions and optimization.
- Genuine interest in beauty, culture, digital storytelling, and the evolving social media landscape.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment.
- Understanding of full-funnel marketing and how creative supports awareness, engagement, conversion, and loyalty.
