A good deposition with interest in Media and Publishing Career. Also, in depth acknowledge and experience in Social media posting and responding to comments is a plus.
Assistant Copy Editor / Page Designer
Dallas-based minority newspaper is in need of a contract, freelance copy editor and page designer. Duties include layout out of a weekly newspaper, prepping editorial copy and photos for publication, and posting the articles to the newspaper's website.
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop is required. Knowledge of WordPress and social media and email marketing service platforms is a plus.
Work Schedule:
Weekly hours: 10 - 15 Hours

Responsibilities:
Editorial Projects:
· Rewrite press releases, removing sales messages, keeping brief while providing key info necessary for readers.
· Attend local events - prepare a brief write up and at least five photos to choose from.
· Brief phone interviews to prepare a short story for the website and/or print edition.
· When stories are in the headline related to stories Newspaper has covered, write a recap and link the story to the updated info.
Social Media Channels & Tools will include:
● Facebook
● Instagram
● Twitter
● Pinterest - although we ignore the network visitors regularly share our limited content and add more
● LinkedIn - re-share any business-related stories, maybe our cover
● Hootsuite - This is a tool you can use to “schedule” the post to go out on specific days and times; vary the time of day used so we can try to determine the best time for certain content. Tips for re-sharing content
