Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Senior Technical Designer to support our Technical Design Department in the development and production of our women’s ready-to-wear collection.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of luxury garment construction, fit, and finishing, as well as an appreciation for the Nili Lotan aesthetic and commitment to quality.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Technical Design, the Freelance Senior Technical Designer will collaborate closely with Design, Production, Pattern Making, and Fabric Development teams to ensure each garment meets the brand’s high standards of craftsmanship and fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of fit and technical design for woven, PFD, and leather categories.
- Manage fittings from SMS through production, ensuring consistency of fit and brand standards across all styles.
- Communicate fit comments, construction details, and pattern adjustments clearly and efficiently to cross-functional teams and factory partners.
- Maintain and update detailed technical packages, including graded specs, fit photos, and construction notes.
- Partner with patternmakers and graders to ensure precision in pattern execution, grading, and fabric utilization.
- Work closely with the Production team to ensure fit approvals and pre-production (PP) samples meet schedule and quality requirements.
- Coordinate fittings with internal teams, models, and patternmakers; document fit notes and communicate all updates to relevant departments.
- Conduct and interpret fabric shrink tests and other technical evaluations to ensure fabric performance aligns with development samples.
- Ensure fit consistency and construction integrity across core and carryover styles.
- Support factories and production partners with technical guidance to uphold the brand’s standards of craftsmanship and finish.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Technical Design and/or Pattern Making, with a strong background in luxury women’s ready-to-wear.
- Deep technical knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, and fit for premium and designer-level apparel.
- Proven experience working with both domestic and international manufacturers.
- Highly proficient in Excel, PLM, PDM, ERP, or RLM systems; ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work fluidly with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Quick-thinking, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
