Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled & creative Women's Apparel Print Designer to freelance on an as needed basis when we need additional help. We currently do not have a need but are interviewing now for when we do have a need. The role responsibilities include creating visually appealing apparel original prints, patterns & placed graphic designs for Fortune 500 companies. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop creating art for the Millennial & Gen Z women’s customer with a portfolio of current relevant work. Knowledge of Browzwear VStitcher & Lotta is a plus but not a requirement. Additional tasks include processing & recoloring artwork, creating designs in various media, assisting with compiling trend presentations, and possibly applying textures/fabrics, & coloring 3D designs for the apparel industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create & execute concepts & designs for various projects, such as all over textile prints & patterns, plaids, stripes, embroideries, placement tee graphics, retailer CADs, repeats, and product designs.
- Proof and process existing artwork, recolor prints & patterns, create mill ready artwork.
- Assist with the collection of trend images utilizing social media and trend services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, merchandising, and technical design to ensure designs align with brand guidelines, manufacturing standards and company objectives.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Must be experienced enough to see a project through design concept, development, & project execution.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices and implement them into design processes.
- Create color cards & maintain color standard library.
- Possible color 3D assets and create 3D fabric profiles using Browzwear VStitcher/Lotta (can train).
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in textile design, graphic design, fashion design or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in textile cad design, preferably in women’s apparel.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel & Word. Indesign, Browzwear & Lotta experience is a plus but not a requirement.
- Strong understanding of textile printing techniques and fabrics including knits, wovens and sweaters.
- Ability to create original and innovative designs that are on-trend and meet the target market's needs.
- Excellent eye for detail and color.
- Understanding of PLM Systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Self-motivated!
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Working with Walmart Experience a Plus
- Applicant must be up to date on the latest fashion trends to enable them to create designs that are on trend and appealing.
Additional Requirements:
- Portfolio of work: Portfolio submission is required. Please supply a link to a digital portfolio with your application. The portfolio should be of current work showcasing the applicant’s range of skills and experience, as well as their ability to create appealing and marketable original designs for the Millennial and Gen Z women’s customer.
- In Office Attendance: This role is not remote. In office is required for all work. Applicant must reside within a reasonable commutable distance from midtown Manhattan.
