Greetings!
My name is Courtney S. Atkins, and I am the Founder, CEO, and Editor-In-Chief of Mossy Point Publishing, LLC. Founded in the Fall of 2021, we are a small, minority-owned, independent publishing company located in the heart of beautiful and historic Baltimore, Maryland.
On April 1, 2023, we officially launched The Hellfighter: The Online Journal of African American Military History. Named in honor of the legendary Harlem Hellfighters, the digital magazine is published four times a year and is packed with multiple, carefully planned sections related to African American military history. Articles written by well-established and published military historians, interviews/oral histories, and book/movie reviews are some of what is found in each issue.
We are currently looking to hire freelance writers to research and author an article on one of the following:
1. 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion
2. 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion
3. Salaria Kea (A Black nurse who volunteered to serve in both the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War.)
4. Joseph C. Jenkins (The first officially recognized Black commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.)
5. Benjamin O. Davis, Sr.
6. Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.
7. Frederick C. Branch (The first African American officer of the U.S. Marine Corps)
8. USS Mason (DE-529) (One of two U.S. Navy ships in the Second World War with an all-Black crew.)
9. Jesse L. Brown (He was the first African American to complete the United States Navy's basic flight training program. He was killed in action during the Korean War.)
10. The Red Ball Express
Writers will be compensated for their contributions to The Hellfighter, which will be paid on publication.
Please email subject selections to either courtneyatkins@mossypointpublishingllcbaltimore.com or mossypointpublishingllc@gmail.com.

Looking forward to your selections!
