The Freelance Writer will be responsible for writing articles related to the latest medical news or interesting health topics. They are responsible for ensuring the correct grammar, spelling, house style and tone of the published work. Writers have to make sure that the copy is factually correct and that it suits the target market. They are also involved with copywriting across channels e.g. social media.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing compelling and engaging articles based on the latest medical news and healthcare-related topics
- Checking facts and stories to ensure they are accurate, adhere to copyright laws, are not libellous or go against the publication’s policy
- Liaising with the editor
- Keeping up to date with sector issues, e.g. by reading related publications
Qualifications & Skills
- At least a Diploma holder; however, a degree holder is preferred
- A strong medical background with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related disciplines) is a plus
- Basic SEO understanding would be a plus, but not a requirement.
- Experience in professional content writing or copywriting experience at a publication or agency is a plus
- Experience creating high-quality written content and ability to convey medical information in easy-to-understand language
- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Clear, concise style of writing, with attention to detail and excellent grammar
- Intermediate level in Google for Work products (Google Analytics, Sheets, Slides)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
- Must have access to a reliable internet connection and be comfortable working remotely
- Writing submitted must not utilise egregious language generation models or AI.
