Your Role
As a Principal UX Designer embedded in the Customer Activation Pod at MilliporeSigma, you will own and deliver high-quality design work across customer-facing digital experiences including the homepage, category pages, navigation, B2B, and personalization surfaces. This is an individual contributor role for a designer who brings both strong UI craft and sharp UX judgment.
You will be expected to pick up workstreams, move them forward, and see them through to completion. You will work directly with product managers, engineers, and content strategists to gather what you need and keep work moving in quick iterations and releases, while keeping the longer-term North Star vision in perspective.
Responsibilities include
- Own UX and UI design work from early concepting through detailed execution
- Synthesize business goals, user needs, and customer insights to inform effective design solutions
- Create key design artifacts including flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and vision concepts
- Design and develop AEM components for our CMS, ensuring work is compatible with content authoring realities and localization requirements
- Drive a high standard for visual design and interaction quality, applying strong ecommerce and digital best practices with an understanding of metrics such as conversion, engagement, and customer satisfaction
- Own design decisions for your workstreams, communicating rationale clearly and resolving ambiguity so that work keeps moving
- Coordinate with the pod UX designer(s) and cross-functional colleagues to ensure consistency across surfaces
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and content strategists to align on priorities and move work forward
- Apply AI-enabled approaches that improve ideation and design workflows, with the ability to evaluate AI-generated concepts and prototypes, build on what is useful, and redirect what is not
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, a related field, or 8 years of design experience
- Significant experience applying user-centered design principles across digital products
- Significant experience creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
- Strong visual design capability, including design systems, responsive design, and polished customer-facing digital experiences
- Strong proficiency in Figma and other modern design tools
- Strong knowledge of digital product patterns, interaction design, and current design best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ecommerce or similarly complex customer-facing digital environments
- Experience designing upper-funnel, onboarding, activation, or acquisition experiences
- Familiarity with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Curiosity about emerging tools and workflows, especially AI, and sound judgment about where they add value
