Job Description
UX Design and Strategy for Sales Technology. Design modern, mission-critical platforms used daily by sales professionals, translating deep user insight into elegant, intuitive solutions.
Join a collaborative, high-impact user experience team focused on equipping internal sales teams with smart, integrated, and mobile-first digital tools. In this role, you will apply UX strategy, user research, and rapid prototyping to craft high-fidelity enterprise applications for professionals who are frequently on the road or in the field. A key focus involves shaping AI-forward experiences—leveraging ecosystems of AI agents to assist, augment, and accelerate user workflows while integrating generative AI directly into your day-to-day design workflow.
This role sits at the intersection of sales strategy, product innovation, and human-centered craftsmanship, partnering closely with design leads, strategists, and cross-functional teams to bring product vision to life.
A Typical Day in the Life
- Designing for Mobility: Creating responsive, high-fidelity mobile and tablet experiences tailored for field sales teams navigating fast-paced, on-the-go environments.
- Hands-on Execution: Building wireframes, interaction flows, specs, and polished production-ready UI in Figma (utilizing FigJam and the internal Access design system).
- Strategic Collaboration: Partnering with UX Leads and Design Strategists to translate strategic direction into concrete design decisions, occasionally contributing to user journey maps and service blueprints.
- Peer Partnership: Teaming up with fellow UX designers, product owners, and engineers to review components, align on patterns, and maintain high standards of visual polish and usability.
- AI Integration: Exploring and applying generative AI tools to accelerate prototyping, test concepts, and design contextual AI assistance into sales tools.
Team & Culture
- Environment: Highly collaborative, cross-functional, and paced to deliver meaningful business value within Vanguard’s B2B Financial Advisor Services division.
- Focus: Deep alignment with sales enablement, CRM, and internal workflows, bridging user empathy with enterprise scale.
- Reporting Structure: Sits within the FAS Digital & Analytics UX organization, working closely with product management, engineering, and sales partners across FAS.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute intuitive, engaging experiences through advanced interaction design, visual craftsmanship, and rapid prototyping.
- Translate sales workflows, business objectives, and user insights into scalable design solutions that balance human judgment with automated/AI assistance.
- Design and maintain high-fidelity UI leveraging Vanguard’s enterprise design system (Access).
- Produce polished design artifacts (user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, redlines) ready for development handoff.
- Support planning, facilitation, and synthesis for design thinking workshops, ideation sessions, and journey mapping initiatives.
- Partner closely with IT product teams across Agile delivery cycles, validating coded UI to ensure adherence to design specs and interaction standards.
- Champion design decisions with clear visual, written, and verbal storytelling across senior management, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Participate in special design initiatives and contribute to shared system patterns as needed.
Top Required Skills
- Craftsmanship & Attention to Detail: Exceptional visual design sensibility, precision formatting, component accuracy, and clean written documentation.
- Enterprise Portfolio: Demonstrated experience designing complex B2B platforms, large enterprise-wide systems, or internal tools (specifically mobile/tablet-optimized workflows).
- AI Fluency: Experience designing AI-driven product experiences (e.g., copilots, assistive workflows, predictive interfaces) as well as leveraging generative AI tools within your personal design process.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of UX/product design industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Mastery of core design and prototyping tools (Figma, FigJam).
- Deep expertise across core UX disciplines: interaction design, visual design, responsive layouts (mobile/tablet/desktop), information architecture, and design thinking.
- Proven track record designing complex enterprise B2B applications, internal tools, or sales enablement platforms.
- Experience integrating generative AI tooling into design workflows and concept development.
- Strong product thinking: ability to balance user needs, business metrics, and engineering feasibility in Agile/Lean environments.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct or incorporate qualitative and quantitative research into iterative designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience designing tools used by mobile sales professionals, relationship managers, or financial advisors (e.g., Salesforce, custom CRM, portfolio tools).
- Experience working directly within established design systems (building components, adhering to guidelines, contributing patterns).
- Familiarity with financial services, wealth management, or regulated enterprise environments.
