About Openhouse
Openhouse is the most premium merch company in the world. We design and manufacture custom branded products for world-class brands like Sweetgreen, Hyatt, OpenTable, and Magnolia Bakery. Our in-house line of quality blanks is only available with Openhouse. Our blanks are designed, produced, and warehoused by us. Proudly headquartered in New York State, with our team in Brooklyn and Kingston.
The role
We're hiring our first in-house content creator, part-time, 15 to 20 hours a week. You'll film and edit the stories behind our work: the clients we make for, the products we design, and the people who design them. You report to our Head of Marketing and own the production side of the content calendar.
Every story you shoot becomes a short video, a LinkedIn post, and an article on our site. The best ones get ad spend behind them. Your work goes straight to buyers at the brands we sell to, so it has to look as good as what we make.
What You'll Make
One story a week, across a set of recurring series:
- Client stories: how a brand's merch program came together, from brief to finished piece
- Design stories: our Head of Design walks through a client project and the choices behind it
- Product stories: why we make the pieces we make, from the chore coat to the milk glass mug
- Tag and label design: the details we focus on
- Apparel design: behind the scenes with our apparel design partner
- Client concepting: how our Head of Marketing builds a concept for a brand before the first order
- Founder stories: build our founder's LinkedIn into a personal brand with short videos and posts on building Openhouse.
- Partner collabs: short films with brands and creators we partner with, shared with their audience as well as ours
Each story ships as one main video, short cuts for Instagram and LinkedIn, and footage and stills for the written piece.
What You'll Do Each Week
- Plan the week's story with our Head of Marketing against the content calendar
- Film on location in Brooklyn: product, people, process and client pieces in use
- Edit one main video and two to three short cuts, sized for each platform, plus our founder's LinkedIn video for the week
- Hand off stills, clips and notes for the LinkedIn post and the site article
- Add captions and on-screen text that match our voice: direct, confident, no fluff
- Keep a clean, labeled library of footage the whole team can use
- Review what performed last month and bring ideas for what to shoot next
What You Bring
- A portfolio of short-form video you shot and edited yourself
- Strong filming and editing skills: lighting, sound, framing, pacing. Premiere, Final Cut or CapCut, your choice
- An eye for product. You know how to make fabric, texture and craft look as good on screen as they do in hand
- Comfort filming people who aren't on camera for a living, and making them look good
- You live on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. You know what's working on each platform this week, and you can make a brand feel native there. Early-career creators with a strong portfolio are welcome
- Reliable and self-directed. You hit the weekly deadline without being chased
- Based in or near New York City, and able to get to Brooklyn and Kingston for shoots
