Adina Hall Design is seeking a technically strong Architectural Designer / Interior Designer to join our growing Chicago studio on a flexible contract basis.
You’ll work across design-driven residential and select commercial projects, collaborating closely with our architecture and interiors team throughout the design process — from concept development and client presentations through documentation, budgeting and construction.
This is a multifaceted design role with a strong technical focus. We’re looking for someone who combines excellent construction documentation skills with design sensibility, organization and the ability to move comfortably between creative and technical work.
Success in this role means understanding the larger design vision, developing it thoughtfully and technically, and helping move projects forward from concept through execution.
Responsibilities
• Produce and develop construction documents, including floor plans, RCPs, interior elevations and architectural details
• Develop custom millwork, cabinetry, kitchen and bathroom drawings
• Translate design concepts into accurate, buildable documentation
• Contribute to design development, material and finish selections and sourcing
• Create polished client presentations and design boards using our established templates
• Assist with project budgeting, estimates, specifications and product documentation
• Field measure and document existing conditions
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors and trade partners
• Research products, materials and technical solutions
• Participate in site visits and project meetings as needed
• Support projects through procurement and construction
• Collaborate closely with the design team while independently managing assigned responsibilities
Qualifications
• 4+ years of professional experience in architecture, interior architecture or a related field
• Advanced AutoCAD proficiency; experience with AutoCAD Architecture (Architecture toolset) is a plus
• Strong construction documentation and architectural detailing skills
• Experience producing comprehensive architectural/interior drawing sets
• Experience with residential renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and custom millwork
• Strong understanding of materials, finishes and constructability
• Strong design sensibility and visual presentation skills
• Experience creating polished design presentations; Canva proficiency is a plus
• Comfortable working with project budgets, specifications and detailed product information
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work independently within an established design direction
• Residential design experience preferred
• Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design preferred
• Revit proficiency and other 3D modeling capabilities are a plus
• Must provide own computer and maintain current, properly licensed software required to perform the work, including AutoCAD
This is a Chicago-based, flexible contract position with project-based hours to start. Candidates must be located in the Chicago area and available for site visits, field measurements and in-person project meetings as needed.
