Assistant Designer – Women’s Apparel
Pay: $25/hr
Hybrid 3x a week in NYC, 2 days remote
We’re partnering with a well-established global fashion and lifestyle organization seeking an Assistant Designer to support its women’s apparel design team.
This is a great opportunity for an emerging designer who wants to build stronger technical and product-development experience within an established fashion environment. The role is highly hands-on and focused on supporting the design team with technical sketching, tech packs, fittings, product tracking, and day-to-day design execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with flat sketches, technical sketches, and tech pack preparation
- Support the creation of design specification sheets, line sheets, and development materials
- Help maintain product development trackers, design files, and seasonal documentation
- Attend fittings and keep detailed notes and updates
- Support fabric, trim, color, and product development activities
- Assist with presentation materials and other design-related administrative work
- Partner with Designers and cross-functional teams to keep projects moving on schedule
- Help maintain organized design archives, boards, and seasonal materials
- Provide general behind-the-scenes support across the design process
Qualifications
- Approximately 1–2 years of apparel design experience, or a strong relevant internship experience(s)
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Strong flat and technical sketching ability
- Basic understanding of tech packs, garment construction, specifications, fit, and apparel development
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable supporting multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with Bamboo or another PLM/design system is a plus, but not required
- Procreate experience is helpful
Position Details
- $25/hour
- 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Hybrid schedule, averaging 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week
- ASAP start
- Contract through early December with potential to extend
- No overtime anticipated
