Civil/Structural Designer III

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Designer III to support Engineering and Operations on pipeline and facility projects in the oil and gas industry. This role will be responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining accurate engineering drawings across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and facility design.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of oil and gas drafting experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and the ability to interpret engineering information, field redlines, site photos, and as-built conditions and convert them into accurate, compliant technical drawings.
Experience working with company-specific drafting standards, drawing systems, and pipeline/facility documentation is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain engineering drawings supporting pipeline and facility projects.
- Prepare and revise drawings across mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and facility disciplines.
- Translate engineering concepts, project deliverables, field information, and redlines into accurate CAD drawings.
- Review and incorporate field markups, site photos, survey information, and as-built conditions into final drawings.
- Develop and update P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, equipment drawings, and related engineering documentation.
- Prepare Issued for Construction (IFC) and As-Built drawing packages.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable company drafting standards, including DS 001, DS 002, and DS 003, as applicable.
- Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and engineering records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, operations, maintenance, field personnel, and external engineering/drafting service providers.
- Review incomplete or changing project information and use sound judgment to resolve drawing discrepancies.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Help maintain accurate Process Safety Information (PSI) and engineering documentation.
- Ensure consistent quality, accuracy, and compliance across all project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional drafting/design experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong experience working across multiple engineering disciplines, including:
- Mechanical
- Piping
- Electrical
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience developing and maintaining:
- P&IDs
- Plot plans
- Facility layouts
- Equipment drawings
- As-built drawings
- IFC drawing packages
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, field redlines, site photographs, and project documentation.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, revisions, and document control.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve drawing discrepancies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with company-specific drafting standards and drawing management systems, such as LPDMS.
- Experience supporting pipeline and facility operations.
- Familiarity with oil and gas facility design and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, equipment tagging, and engineering numbering conventions.
- Experience with Revit or other engineering/design software is a plus.
- Experience working with EPCs, engineering consultants, vendors, and external drafting providers.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior oil & gas CAD designer/drafter who can independently take engineering concepts, field information, redlines, and project documentation and turn them into accurate, construction-ready and as-built drawings.
Candidates with experience supporting pipeline, terminals, compressor stations, processing facilities, or other oil and gas assets are especially encouraged to apply.
This role is based in Duluth, MN and requires a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
