About the Role
An independent, profitable consumer products company behind a line of distraction-free writing tools is hiring a Video Creator focused on growth and social media. The company's products have won multiple design awards, entered the Science Museum London's permanent collection, and been featured in The Atlantic, Wired, and the Wall Street Journal. Tens of thousands of customers worldwide have written over 1 billion words on the devices.
This role is equal parts production and pattern recognition. The Video Creator develops short-form video content built to earn reach, retention, and shares, then digs into the analytics to understand exactly why a video worked so the next one works even better. Candidates must be based in the Metro Detroit area for on-site content production.
What the Role Covers
- Developing and executing short-form video concepts built to earn reach, retention, and shares on Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Reading platform signals (completion rate, share rate, etc.) and translating them into concrete changes to hooks, pacing, and structure
- Conceptualizing and executing content ideas aligned with the brand voice and marketing goals
- Capturing and editing short-form video content end-to-end, from concept through final cut
- Supporting the marketing team on product launches, paid campaigns, email marketing, and storytelling initiatives
- Maintaining consistent visual and editorial standards across all content
- Leading on-site shoots, product demonstrations, and behind-the-scenes content
- Reporting on performance and using data to shape the next round of content
Qualifications
- A track record of published videos that have significantly outperformed typical engagement benchmarks (be ready to show the numbers)
- Demonstrated understanding of how short-form platform algorithms surface and reward content
- At least 1 year of professional experience in content creation, social media, or digital marketing
- Proficiency with content creation and editing tools
- Comfortable shooting and editing content independently
- Strong storytelling skills and attention to detail
- Passion for technology and design
- Must be located within commuting distance of Oak Park, Michigan
- Available for flexible hours to accommodate shoots and product launches
