Roles and Responsibilities
The Aerospace Technical WriterI will collaborate directly with interdisciplinary Integrated Product Teams including Program Management, Engineering, and Operations to support preparation and delivery of technical publications.
EXPECTED TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Documentation: Write, edit, and format technical documents, including but not limited to technical specifications, SDRLs, test reports, procedures, and proposals, user guides and manuals, and other technical publications.
Research and Data Collection: Collaborate with subject matter experts and engineers to gather technical information and specifications necessary for document creation.
Document Review: Review and proofread documents for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards and company guidelines.
Standard Compliance: Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry and regulatory standards, such as AS9100, ISO, and other relevant aerospace quality standards.
Version Control: Coordinate with our Configuration Manager to maintain version control and revision history of documents to track changes and updates.
Graphic Support: Work with graphics designers to incorporate diagrams, illustrations, and images into documents to enhance comprehension.
Document/Data Organization: Organize and manage document repositories for easy access and retrieval by team members and external parties. Meticulously catalog and store data such that the origin of the data is permanently linked to it and the relevance to its development or production program is maintained.
Proposal Support: Contribute to the development of proposal documents, including technical sections, by creating persuasive and well-organized content.
Quality Assurance: Assist in quality control activities, ensuring that documents are free from errors, inconsistencies, and ambiguity.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineers, program managers, test technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure that documentation aligns with project goals and timelines.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in documentation creation and maintenance.
Program Review Support: Support preparation for SRR/PDR/CDR/TRR/MRR (Supplier Readiness Reviews, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews) as well as other customer program reviews as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Mastery of Microsoft Word.
- Skilled in oral and written communication, especially technical communication.
- Knowledge of aerospace / military engineering design, development, build and test, and production.
- Knowledge of engineering customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule technical publication products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical writing and aerospace product development and testing, and production practices.
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and/or Microsoft Teams a plus.
- Minimum five years of relevant work experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in journalism, technical writing, aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of five years of combined experience working professionally in technical writing or an equivalent technical role.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the aerospace industry.
