Job Description:
Motion Graphics Artist III
Location: Los Angeles, California (Remote)
Role Overview
As a Senior Motion Graphics Artist, you will work alongside art and product leads to bring digital pages and UI to life. Motion artists operate at the intersection of art and technology through collaboration with visual designers, game designers, audio designers, UX designers, and engineers. You will work as a key contributor on various product features, designing eye-catching transitions and interactive states that reinforce an established motion language. You will translate your vision into real-time executions by working directly in the game engine, where you balance aesthetics, functionality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Help shape motion and interactive direction for features, defining directions that meet the creative goals and artistic direction of the project.
- Align the team on a vision by creating high-quality animatics that demonstrate full motion user flows.
- Work alongside engineers, tech artists, and visual designers to translate your animatics into interactive experiences.
- Collaborate with the multi-discipline team at each stage of development, from concept to in-engine implementation.
- Uphold the art style and quality standards.
- Contribute to logistical efforts like planning and estimating scope of work.
- Utilize communication skills to advocate for your craft across the organization.
- Drive workflow improvements to unlock the potential of future artists.
- Work within proprietary tools and workflows to import/export assets, optimize animations, and streamline development pipelines.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of motion design experience across UI, games, or media.
- A portfolio showing proficiency in motion graphics fundamentals (easing, pacing, timing, composition, legibility).
- A portfolio showing experience creating motion graphics for real-time UI (celebrations, ceremonies, design systems, notifications, HUDs, interactive states, screen transitions, etc.).
- Mastery in the Adobe Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
- High proficiency with VFX particle plugins like Trapcode Suite or xparticles.
- A strong understanding of version control tools and game development workflow/pipelines.
- A keen eye for maintaining best practices related to optimization and performance.
- Experience in Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with game engine tools like Unreal or Unity.
- Experience animating with Spine 2D, Protopie, or Rive.
- Experience in a 3D modeling/animation package (Maya, 3DSMax, Cinema 4D, or Blender).
- Knowledge of the associated IP and style.
