HockomockSports.com is looking to grow our roster of freelance writers for the upcoming high school sports seasons.
We are looking for people who are passionate about high school sports and interested in covering games throughout the Hockomock League.
This is primarily a game coverage role. Freelancers will attend games in person, provide live social media updates, interview coaches and/or players after games, and submit clean, accurate game stories on deadline.
We take pride in providing strong, balanced coverage across the league, with a focus on covering all sports and both boys and girls sports equally.
What We're Looking For
Ability to attend games in person throughout the Hockomock League
Availability Monday through Friday in the afternoons and/or evenings, with occasional Saturday assignments
A passion for high school sports, including the ability to follow games closely and track your own stats and notes
Willingness to interview coaches and/or players
Ability to provide live social media updates from games
Ability to submit clean, accurate copy on deadline
Reliable transportation
Previous sports writing or journalism experience is helpful, but not required.
Compensation
This is a paid freelance position. Compensation will be based on experience, availability, assignment volume and the final scope of responsibilities.
