About the Role
We're seeking a part-time Writer & Research Associate to join our New York City team. This role suits someone who enjoys researching complex subjects, writing long-form narrative nonfiction, interviewing people, and shaping large amounts of information into compelling stories. You'll work closely with experienced writers and researchers at every stage of the book-writing process.
Students entering their senior year, recent graduates, and early-career professionals with exceptional writing and research abilities are encouraged to apply.
The position is part-time to start, with a strong possibility of transitioning to full-time within six months, depending on performance and company needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct historical, archival, and background research
- Organize and synthesize information from books, articles, interviews, and primary sources
- Draft and revise chapters, timelines, and narrative sections
- Assist with manuscript editing and peer review
- Fact-check material and verify sources
- Interview subjects, their associates, and families, and prepare detailed reporting notes
- Collaborate with writers and editors across multiple projects

Preferred academic backgrounds include:

- Other writing or research-intensive disciplines
Experience with a student newspaper, literary magazine, academic journal, or other publication is a plus.
