Innovation Refunds, LLC. Innovation Refunds has supported thousands of SMB owners through a complex and often overwhelming employment tax refund process — turning government relief into real dollars in their pockets.
About the Role
We're looking for a Social Media Director to run social across our portfolio of companies, with the main focus on Supersure.
This is a high-visibility leadership role. You'll set the social strategy, build the systems behind it, and make the judgment calls that keep the brand credible in a regulated industry — think brands are quick, funny, and confident online, then imagine doing that while representing an insurance company. That's the balance we need.
You'll work closely with executives, legal, and compliance, and you'll be the one deciding what we post, what we don't, and how we show up if something goes sideways.
What You'll Do
Setting the Strategy
- Set the social strategy across our brands and tie it to real business goals, not just follower counts.
- Track the metrics that actually matter — engagement quality and brand trust.
- Advise leadership on how we should show up publicly, including when there's real risk involved.
- Build a social media operation that can support more than one brand at once.
Protecting the Brand
- Own the brand voice everywhere we post, and keep it consistent and credible.
- Build a plan for how we respond fast when something big or sensitive happens.
- Work with legal and compliance so what we post actually holds up.
- Lead our response if something turns into a real crisis online.
Executive Visibility
- Run social strategy for our executives and founders, especially on LinkedIn and X.
- Help position our leaders as real voices in fintech, insurance, and infrastructure.
- Ghostwrite and collaborate on posts and articles that build their reputation.
Running the Day-to-Day
- Set up workflows and approvals so content moves fast and stays compliant.
- Use AI tools to speed up research, drafting, and reporting — this is part of how we work now, not a nice-to-have.
- Build and manage content calendars across platforms.
- Build reporting that connects social performance to real marketing and revenue goals.
- Manage any outside vendors, freelancers, or hires who support the work.
Content & Growth
- Work with content, design, growth, and paid media to build campaigns made for social — not repurposed from somewhere else.
- Push out strong static, carousel, video, and short-form content.
- Keep an eye on trends and cultural moments, and know which ones are actually worth jumping on.
- Use data to keep sharpening what's working.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years leading social media, in-house or at an agency.
- A track record of building a brand's voice and following from the ground up.
- Experience turning brand strategy into real engagement and business results.
- Experience advising executives or running social for a founder.
- Strong writing chops and a good editorial eye.
- Experience building systems and workflows, not just posting content.
- Good judgment under pressure — you don't rattle easily.
- Experience juggling more than one brand or a lot of stakeholders.
- Comfortable with data and comfortable presenting to leadership.
- Comfortable using AI tools day-to-day — for drafting, research, reporting, whatever speeds up the work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, insurance, SaaS, B2B, or another regulated industry.
- Experience with social listening, sentiment tracking, or crisis response.
- Familiarity with social scheduling and automation tools.
- Startup, venture studio, or multi-brand experience.
- Genuine interest in insurance, infrastructure, or small-business-focused companies.
Who You Are
- You're funny and quick online, and you know when to actually use it and when to hold back.
- You've actually run a brand's social before — not just posted on someone else's calendar.
- You can handle something urgent today and still have a real plan for three months from now.
- You're just as comfortable writing something for a CEO's LinkedIn as you are jumping into Canva ten minutes later.
- You see legal and compliance as partners, not the enemy.
- You care more about whether people are actually engaging than how many followers you have.
- You already use AI tools in your day-to-day work and want to get faster with them, not avoid them.
You take care of the work. We'll take care of you.
