Freelance Technical Designer
Contemporary brand is seeking a
Freelance Technical Designer to support the women’s apparel and outerwear team on a freelance basis. This freelance opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented technical design professional with strong experience in garment construction, fit, specs, and communication across design and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update technical packages, garment specifications, and detailed fit comments for women’s apparel.
- Manage technical design for woven categories including dresses, tops, skirts, jackets, pants, and outerwear.
- Evaluate samples for fit, construction, measurements, and overall product execution.
- Partner closely with design, product development, and production teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Track revisions and maintain accurate documentation throughout the lifecycle of each style.
- Support fittings and communicate necessary corrections to vendors in a timely and clear manner.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer in women’s apparel.
- Strong background in woven and cut-and-sew product categories.
- Knowledge of fit, grading, garment construction, and factory communication.
- Experience using Centric and Gerber preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
