About the Company
Our client is a national licensed merchandise company whose products sit on the shelves of major retailers like Target, Hobby Lobby, CVS, and Burlington. They design and manufacture apparel, hard goods, and soft goods under some of the most recognizable licenses in sports and entertainment, and the business is growing. This role supports one of their most beloved evergreen programs, a holiday home goods line built around an iconic, instantly recognizable character that customers genuinely love.
About the Role
Part-time contract: 20 to 30 hours per week, ongoing (this line runs year-round). Remote with flexible hours; must be Bay Area local for in-person sample and spec reviews once or twice a month. Reports to the creative lead, with direction from the account's head of sales.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new product art for a character-licensed home goods line: kitchen textiles, aprons, ceramics, drinkware, and serveware.
- Prepare production-ready artwork, including art setup with PMS colors and specs.
- Partner with the licensing team to prep art for licensor submission and approval.
- Work with the technical team to confirm measurements and production accuracy.
- Support production art setup for other product lines as capacity allows.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of design experience, ideally in consumer products, licensed merchandise, or surface and pattern design.
- Strong production fundamentals: print-ready files, color separations, PMS color, spec setup.
- Expert in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with licensor approval workflows a strong plus.
- Self-directed and comfortable in a remote, project-based rhythm with hard deadlines.
- Experience in consumer products or licensed merchandise.
