We’re transforming scrolling to tuning in, by reinventing destination viewing through bingeable, social-first content that meets our audiences on the platforms where they live.
The Role
This is not a news role, this is an entertainment role.
We’re looking for a social-first creator to craft original content for the NowThis main page, while producing bespoke content for our original shows.
You are deeply online and fluent in internet culture. You live and breathe pop culture, fandom discourse, and meme cycles. You’re the first to catch a niche reference and the last to let a trend die unnoticed.
You’ll create meme-forward content for the NT main page while also stepping behind the camera to film and edit short-form video series that capture the self-aware, chaotic, and culturally tuned-in energy our audience expects.
You don’t just follow internet culture, you help shape it.
What You’ll Do
- Design and produce daily static content for the NowThis main page: graphics, memes, reaction posts, and culturally-timed assets that stop the scroll
- Create bespoke visual and video content pieces for NowThis original shows, capturing each show’s unique voice and aesthetic
- Film and edit short-form video series for the main page across platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Stay aggressively ahead of internet trends, meme cycles, and pop culture moments and act on them fast
- Bring a designer’s eye and a shitposter’s instincts to every piece of content
- Collaborate with social media managers, producers, and editors to ensure content is platform-optimized and audience-ready
- Monitor performance metrics and use data to inform and evolve content strategy
- Contribute to the overall creative direction of the NT main page’s visual identity
- Other duties as assigned
Success Will Look Like
- Static content that earns engagement, shares, and comments. AKA posts that people screenshot and send to their group chats.
- Original show content pieces (captioned posts, quotes, clips) that feel native to each show’s world and resonate with its fanbase
- Video series that pull strong views, retention, and follower growth on the main page
- Maintaining a consistent identity for the NT main page that feels fresh, funny, and culturally dialed-in
- Trend adoption that happens in real time, not three days after everyone else
- A creative output that makes the NowThis audience say “they get it”
Must-Haves
- Experience creating social-first static content (graphics, memes, reactive posts) for a brand or personal platform
- Ability to film, star, and edit short-form video content
- A finger on the pulse of pop culture at all times who can speak in niche meme references and has the ability to translate that into content fast
- Strong graphic design skills. You have an eye for layout, typography, and visual storytelling
- Platform-native fluency: TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube Shorts
- Collaborative, organized, and able to execute at speed without sacrificing quality
- Ability to generate ideas quickly and independently in response to breaking internet trends.
Nice-to-Haves
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, or similar tools
- Boots on the ground experience covering live pop culture events (think filming red carpets, making memes for the Met Gala or publishing immediate reactions to an Olivia Rodrigo album drop)
- Ability to film with Sony cameras and handle on-set audio with Rode or equivalent gear
- A portfolio of your creative work, whether it be personal or professional (social account, blog, memes, etc.) that shows your voice and taste
- Experience creating content for or in collaboration with original shows, editorial publications, or serialized formats
