Pet Care and Marketing Assistant
Company Overview
Pawsitive Dawg Walking and Pet Sitting is a Waltham, Massachusetts-based pet care company focused on force-free, fear-free care for dogs and cats. We provide solo dog walks and work with one family at a time so every pet receives individualized attention in a calm, safe, and supportive environment. Established in 2012, we are committed to compassionate care for animals and dependable service for pet owners.
The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to turn a genuine love of animals into meaningful, steady work with room to grow from part-time into full-time. In this role, you will combine hands-on pet care with local grassroots marketing that helps introduce our services to more pet owners in the community. For the right person, this is more than a flexible pet care job. It is a chance to build experience, take on broader responsibility, and become a valued contributor to a growing, mission-driven business.
What You'll Do
- Provide solo dog walks and pet sitting visits that give each animal focused, individualized care.
- Handle a range of daily pet care responsibilities including feeding, play, waste cleanup, litter box care, medication support when needed, and home-visit care.
- Safely manage dogs of different sizes and temperaments while maintaining high standards for animal welfare, client trust, and reliable service.
- Complete detailed visit updates through the scheduling app, including notes and photos for pet owners and the internal team.
- Manage your route independently, stay responsive during shifts, and step in when coverage or schedule adjustments are needed.
- Support local marketing efforts during open hours by dropping off flyers, small promotional items, or informational materials to nearby businesses and community locations.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to local Facebook posts and neighborhood group conversations when people are actively looking for pet care providers, following company guidelines for tone and messaging.
- Help build awareness of the business by identifying neighborhood partnership opportunities, maintaining a professional brand presence in the community, and sharing feedback on what outreach is generating interest.
- Work outdoors in changing New England weather conditions and maintain safe, reliable transportation between visits and outreach stops.
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first few weeks, you can confidently complete assigned walks and pet sitting visits on schedule with minimal supervision.
- Clients consistently receive reliable communication, thoughtful visit notes, and visible evidence of attentive care.
- Pets in your care are safe, comfortable, and well-managed, including those with medication needs, behavioral sensitivities, or more physically demanding routines.
- You become a dependable member of the team who can handle midday routes efficiently while also using slower periods productively to support local marketing efforts.
- Over the first 6 to 12 months, you help strengthen community visibility by consistently completing outreach activities, supporting lead generation, and contributing to business growth as your hours and responsibilities expand.
