Technical Designer Handbags (Onsite-New York, NY)
We are seeking a Technical Designer Handbags for our global retail client. In this role, you will be responsible for translating design concepts into detailed technical specifications to ensure accurate development, functionality, and quality of handbag products. You will partner closely with Design, Product Development, and GIS teams to bring designs to life while maintaining brand standards and production efficiency.
This is a 40-hour per week, 4-month contract (extension possible), an Onsite role in New York City, NY.
This is a W2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and a 401K are offered.
Responsibilities
Translate design concepts into detailed technical specifications for handbag products.
Review prototypes, samples, and pre-production pieces, providing clear feedback and corrections.
Ensure design intent, functionality, and durability of handbags including strap length, weight distribution, and closures.
Communicate directly with factories and vendors to resolve technical issues and clarify construction details.
Create BOMs and upload tech packs into appropriate tools for vendor communication.
Partner closely with Design, Product Development, and GIS teams throughout the product development process.
Maintain brand standards and support production efficiency.
Requirements
8+ years of experience translating handbag design concepts into technical specifications.
Experience reviewing prototypes, samples, and pre-production pieces.
Knowledge of handbag functionality and construction including strap length, closures, and weight distribution.
Experience communicating with factories and vendors regarding technical and construction details.
Experience creating BOMs and tech packs for vendor communication.
Ability to partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, and GIS teams.
