ALIX OF BOHEMIA · Freelance E-Commerce Photo Retoucher · Remote (NYC Preferred)
Freelance / Per-Collection Project · $4,000 per collection (4 collections per year)
ALIX OF BOHEMIA is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand rooted in artistry, storytelling, and handcrafted detail. Following our debut runway show last fall and our first NYFW presentation on the CFDA calendar, the brand is entering an exciting new chapter of growth. With expanding international distribution and collections carried by leading luxury retailers including Bergdorf Goodman and Net-a-Porter, we present our collections seasonally in New York, Los Angeles, and Paris.
We are a small, fast-moving team building with intention and we are seeking a Freelance E-Commerce Photo Retoucher to partner with us on a per-collection basis, owning the post-production pipeline for each of our four seasonal drops per year.
This role reports directly to the Marketing Director and works closely with our founder, photographer, creative partners, and external collaborators. The ideal candidate is highly organized, visually attuned, technically fluent, and excited to partner with a creative, luxury brand.
Responsibilities
Per-Collection Scope of Work
- Retouch 500–700 on-model and product images per seasonal collection, delivered on an agreed-upon timeline.
- Apply light model retouching — including wrinkle removal, sleeve and hem adjustments, skin smoothing, and stray hair cleanup, while preserving the natural, artisanal quality of each garment.
- Apply the ALIX OF BOHEMIA signature filter and color grade consistently across every image in the collection.
- Deliver Shopify-ready exports formatted to brand and platform specifications.
- Provide a clear delivery schedule and progress check-ins at key milestones (first-look, mid-review, final).
Workflow & Pipeline Ownership
- Build and maintain a scalable retouching workflow in Capture One and Adobe Photoshop, including action sets, presets, and batch processes for efficiency across collections.
- Partner with our Creative Director and photographer on hero imagery, ensuring editorial-level polish on PDP lifestyle shots.
- Manage asset organization, version control, and file delivery across shared drives.
- Flag quality issues or reshoots proactively in collaboration with the production team.
Optional Add-On Projects
- Retouch additional imagery for social, email, lookbook, and wholesale decks between collection cycles, billed separately as needed.
- Support Net-a-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, and other retailer image requirements on an ad-hoc basis.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience retouching for fashion, luxury, or e-commerce brands (portfolio required).
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Capture One, including actions, batch processing, and color management.
- Experience applying signature filters, LUTs, or brand color grades across high volumes of imagery.
- Sharp eye for natural skin tones, believable fabric texture, and subtle, refined retouching, not over-polished.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and a clear communicator
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Familiarity with Shopify export specifications is a plus.
Structure & Rate
- Freelance 1099 contractor engaged on a per-collection project basis.
- Flat project fee of $4,000 per collection, covering up to 700 final images, delivered within the agreed timeline.
- Overflow beyond 700 images billed at a pre-agreed per-image rate of $7.
- Payment terms: 50% upon project kickoff, 50% upon final delivery.
- Four collections per year (approximately every 12 weeks) with scheduled engagement windows; first right of refusal on future collections.
- Start date flexible; remote with occasional studio visits at our Greenpoint office preferred.
