Marketing Manager – Part-Time (10–15 hrs/week)

Sixth Generation Strings is a historic 6th-generation family luthier shop in Saratoga Springs, New York. We specialize in high-quality violin, viola, and cello rentals, expert repairs, strings and accessories, and premium custom handmade instruments (retailing up to $26k). Rentals already represent 40–50%+ of our revenue and are highly recurring. We are transitioning to a hybrid studio model (home-based + coworking days in Saratoga/Albany) while maintaining strong ties to the local arts community, including SPAC summer festivals and the Philadelphia Orchestra residency.
Role Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Marketing Manager on a part-time, contract, hybrid basis (10–15 hours/week). You will own our social media strategy and execution to grow rental subscriptions, reactivate past customers, and generate leads for our high-end custom instruments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a monthly content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms
- Run targeted, low-budget Facebook & Instagram ads to string parents, music teachers, and professional musicians/collectors
- Create and manage email/SMS re-engagement campaigns to past rental and repair customers
- Optimize Google My Business and produce storytelling content (short videos/reels) highlighting our 6th-generation craftsmanship and custom instruments
- Monitor performance metrics and refine strategies to improve engagement, rental renewals, and custom leads
- Support teacher/school outreach and SPAC/festival marketing
Qualifications
- 1+ year of hands-on social media marketing experience OR currently pursuing / recently graduated with a major in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Strong skills in Facebook/Instagram ads, email marketing, and content creation
- Experience with social media analytics tools and turning data into actionable insights
- Excellent writing and storytelling ability, especially for music, arts, or artisanal products
- Proficiency with tools like Mailchimp, Canva/CapCut, and Google My Business
- Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices for local and high-ticket marketing
