Role Overview
The Social Video Editor II is responsible for crafting high-impact video content for digital and social channels. This role will partner closely with the Social Content Production Manager and broader social team to translate briefs, raw footage, and campaign concepts into polished, on-brand video assets optimized for each platform. The ideal candidate brings a strong social-first mindset, excellent technical editing skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Social-First Video Editing & Production
- Edit a wide range of content, including short-form reels, long-form tutorials, branded storytelling, animations, and other visual assets for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest.
- Transform raw footage, graphics, and audio into compelling, platform-native content that meets creative briefs and campaign goals.
- Apply advanced editing techniques including color grading, sound design, basic motion graphics, and visual effects to elevate production value and storytelling.
- Collaborate with the Social Content Production Manager during ideation, pre-production, and post-production to ensure content is high quality, relevant, and on strategy.
Brand Integrity & Platform Optimization
- Ensure all videos reflect the brands visual identity, tone of voice, and brand guidelines.
- Adapt content to various aspect ratios and specifications while maintaining visual integrity and impact.
- Incorporate captions, graphics, music, voiceover, and sound effects that align with brand standards and enhance viewer engagement.
- Optimize exports for each platform, considering compression, file size, resolution, and playback quality.
Workflow, File & Asset Management
- Maintain an organized system for all raw footage, project files, graphics, audio libraries, and final masters.
- Follow established production timelines and content calendars to deliver assets on schedule.
- Suggest and support improvements to workflows, templates, and file-naming conventions to increase efficiency and consistency.
Collaboration, Trend Awareness & Innovation
- Participate in creative kickoffs and editorial planning sessions, bringing fresh editing ideas and concepts that resonate with target audiences, particularly beauty professionals.
- Stay current on social media trends, editing styles, sounds, transitions, and best practices, and proactively recommend new approaches.
- Partner with producers, social strategists, and occasionally on-set teams to ensure continuity from shoot through final delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Film, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related creative discipline preferred.
- 3+ years of professional video editing experience, with a strong emphasis on social media content.
- Expert-level proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro.
- Working knowledge of motion graphics and design tools (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva) strongly preferred.
- Proven understanding of the nuances and best practices of major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest); experience with content for paid media is a plus.
