About the project
Iceland 680 is a 12-runner, 60-hour relay covering ~680 km across Iceland. We’re forming the 2026 team and building awareness for our supporting charity, SEA LIFE TRUST (ocean protection; Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Iceland; Cornish Seal Sanctuary; plastic-free seas initiatives). This role drives recruiting/social, assists with assembling the full roster of 12 runners by April 2026, supports sponsorship outreach, and travels to Iceland in July 2026 to document the event and deliver a post-event media package.
Role type
• Contract (part-time, flexible; some evenings/weekends for run clubs)
• Location: Charlotte, NC metro (local presence strongly preferred)
• Term: Now → July 2026 (all participants must be obtained by April 2026)
Phased scope
Phase 1 — Recruiting & Social (Now → April 2026)
- Own social output & engagement (Instagram primary; cross-post to FB Groups/Strava): plan/post 1–2 reels/week+ 2–3 story sets/week; reply to DMs; move DMs → applications → intro calls.
- Attend local run clubs with the Event Director; pre-warm rooms with short “event tonight” posts; capture quick clips on site.
- Outreach: message local runners, club admins, and past endurance participants to book 15-minute intro calls.
- Convert topics/talking points from the Event Director into short verticals and story sets; integrate SEA LIFE TRUST narrative and CTAs using approved language/assets.
- Maintain a simple lead tracker (lead → call → deposit/contract) and share a weekly KPI snapshot.
- Support sponsorship outreach: identify prospects, send outreach, coordinate follow-ups.
Goal: assist with assembling a full roster of 12 runners (signed contracts + deposits) by April 2026.
Phase 2 — Training & Simulation Coverage (May–June 2026)
- Light coverage of prep/training sessions (select long runs).
- Document a 24-hour dry-run simulation (capture + recap).
- Maintain cadence (~1 reel/week + stories) focused on behind-the-scenes, logistics, and team identity; continue sponsor/charity integration.
Phase 3 — Event Documentation in Iceland (July 2026)
- Travel to Iceland; capture on-site moments (handoffs, vans, night legs, landscape, BTS).
- Deliver the post-event media package within 30 days.
Post-event media deliverables
- 250 edited photos (≥24MP) covering team, handoffs, landscape, BTS.
- 30–50 vertical clips (9–20s) suitable for reels/stories.
- Delivery to shared drive within 30 days; usage: perpetual marketing rights for Iceland 680
Must-haves
- Comfortable editing short-form vertical video (phone-native is fine)
- Strong, concise writing for captions/DMs; confident messaging club admins and prospects
- Organized, responsive; energized by recruiting/community building
- Able to join evening run clubs around Charlotte 1–2×/week (as needed)
- Valid passport for July 2026 travel
Nice-to-haves: endurance event/run-club experience; simple graphic chops (progress bars/announcements); prior sponsor outreach.
Compensation & incentives (total target: $3,000, back-loaded)
- $300 — Launch Milestone (Phase 1): onboarding, first content calendar, run-club schedule, outreach templates live (within 2–3 weeks).
- $500 — Recruiting Progress (Phase 1): 6 runners with signed contracts + deposits received.
- $1,000 — Team Completion (Phase 1): 12 runners with signed contracts + deposits received by April 2026.
- $1,200 — Media Delivery (Phase 3): post-event package (250 photos + 30–50 clips) delivered within 30 days of return.
Sponsorship & charity incentives
- Commission on closed sponsorships with proceeds (percentage/terms finalized at contracting; paid when funds clear).
- Optional charity activation bonus/commission for net-new donation partnerships sourced by the Coordinator (terms at contracting; paid when funds clear).
Event travel perk
If the full team is obtained (12 signed + deposits by April 2026), the Coordinator’s trip to Iceland for event documentation will be covered (details/specs in contract).
How success is measured
- Weekly: qualified leads, calls booked, content output & engagement
- Cumulative: signed contracts + deposits progressing toward 12 by April 2026
