We are seeking a freelance UX Writer / Content Designer to help shape new experiences for our digital products, with a primary focus on advertising platforms. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to craft clear, intuitive language that guides users and advertisers through complex workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Write concise, user-centered microcopy for features across mobile apps and ad management tools (e.g., tooltips, buttons, dialogs, empty states, onboarding, notifications).
- Collaborate with product designers, managers, and engineers from concept through launch to ensure language complements design and interaction patterns.
- Develop naming, labels, and short-form messaging for features, flows, and tools to help users understand value and functionality quickly.
- Audit existing product copy for clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines; propose improvements and align teams.
- Work with localization teams to ensure copy is globally ready, simple, unambiguous, and easy to translate.
- Partner with user research to test copy, synthesize findings, and iterate using qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Plan and execute A/B tests for key UX copy, refining language based on performance data to improve conversion and engagement.
- Champion accessibility and inclusive language, ensuring copy meets best practices for readability.
- Contribute to and maintain content standards, voice and tone guidelines, and reusable patterns that scale across products.
- Identify UX and messaging gaps, propose content-led solutions, and lead projects that impact critical product and business metrics.
- Present copy rationale, explorations, and final recommendations to stakeholders and leadership in clear, structured narratives.
What You Need
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) writing for digital products, preferably with mobile apps or web applications.
- Portfolio or case studies demonstrating how your UX writing or content design improved user experience, clarity, or performance metrics.
- Experience simplifying complex or data-heavy experiences (dashboards, campaign setup, analytics) through language.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, initiative to uncover issues, and ability to execute content strategies.
- Excellent collaboration skills; able to work with designers, PMs, engineers, and marketers while advocating for users.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, feedback from diverse stakeholders, and deliver high-quality copy under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with UX principles, design thinking, and experimentation methods (e.g., A/B testing) as they relate to product content.
- Comfortable with common design and collaboration tools (Figma, FigJam, Google Workspace, Jira, etc.).
- Strong command of written English, with attention to detail, consistency, and brand voice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing for ad platforms, marketing tools, or B2B/SaaS products.
- Background in localization, internationalization, or global product teams.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining content design systems and style guides.

This is a freelance role collaborating with product and design teams to improve user and advertiser experiences. Hourly rate: $81.57/hour
