Kodiak Bags is comprised of a small team of industry veterans each with more than 10 years of experience in this industry. The senior designer role reports directly to the company owners. Our streamlined company structure allows us to be ultra responsive and customer focused by working together as a collaborative team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Senior Product & Graphic Designer to lead the design and execution of multiple tote bag client projects. This role is instrumental in developing on-trend, brand-appropriate collections while fostering collaboration across design, production, and cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and team-oriented, with a positive attitude and strong multitasking abilities. They must demonstrate a sense of urgency in meeting calendar deadlines and thrive in an intimate, nimble environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept Design and Develop creative designs for everyday and seasonal tote bag styles through production handoff, ensuring quality and adherence to client private label standards.
- Research and Incorporate current design trends.
- Create design presentations, sell sheets and other collateral for customers.
- Create detailed die lines and tech packs for production team and vendor partners
- Review and approve prototypes and sales samples for accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with internal production, sourcing and sales team members as well as international QC team members and factory partners.
- Maintain an organized digital library of client design work and physical library of samples and TOP’s through multiple iterations.
- Shop the domestic (and international) markets to identify emerging trends, innovative materials and design inspiration.
- Oversee and Direct freelance graphic designer(s)
- Accept and apply constructive criticism as part of the creative process, demonstrating a commitment to growth and improvement.
- Ensure that all projects meet customer deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of design experience in the apparel/fashion/CPG industries with an emphasis on bags, accessories and other sewn products.
- 1+ year of people management experience, specifically managing junior designers.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both product and graphic design expertise.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience accessing iStock, Getty Images and other royalty-free licensing sites.
- Proven ability to develop quality designs for major brands, retailers or businesses.
- Strong trend awareness and a refined eye for color, print, fabric and silhouette.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple project deadlines.
- Collaborative and self-motivated team player who thrives in both independent and cross-functional settings.
- BFA / BA in Graphic Design or other closely related field preferred.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, web design and digital best practices a plus.
This a hybrid role, with 2-3 days in our Encino, CA office
PAY RATE: $75,000/yr-$105,000/yr, commensurate with experience, specialized skills and other factors.
