About the Role
Rebecca Taylor is seeking a Freelance Technical Designer to support and elevate the technical development of our garments from concept through production. This project-based role requires a seasoned specialist with deep technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to uphold our high-quality standards and ensure exceptional fit across all products.
As a freelance partner, you will collaborate with our internal design, product development, and production teams to maintain consistency, quality, and brand integrity throughout the product lifecycle. You will support teams with expert-driven recommendations and execution.
What You'll Do
- Provide support across categories, ensuring all garments meet Rebecca Taylor’s fit, construction, and quality expectations.
- Review and refine garment specifications, patterns, and construction details.
- Ensure balance, construction, and fit standards are optimized.
- Partner with the Design and Product Development teams to translate creative concepts into accurate, production-ready specifications.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed technical packages including construction instructions that meet brand standards.
- Support quality control expectations and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in technical design, preferably in contemporary or premium women’s apparel.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in patternmaking, garment construction, fit analysis, and production timelines.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
