Position Title: Technical Designer(s) – Intimates, Sleepwear, Swimwear
Position Summary
The Technical Designer is responsible for executing the technical design process from concept through final production, ensuring the highest standards of fit, construction, and quality across Intimates, Sleepwear, and Swimwear categories. This role partners closely with Design, Product Development, and Production teams to bring each style to life while maintaining brand standards and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the full technical design process from development to final fit approval.
- Analyze, evaluate, and refine garment fit and construction to achieve consistent sizing, balance, and comfort across categories.
- Develop detailed technical packages, specifications, and construction sketches for vendor communication.
- Lead fit sessions on live models or forms, documenting feedback and providing clear, actionable comments to factories.
- Ensure garments are developed in alignment with brand fit standards, vendor capabilities, and target cost parameters.
- Review samples at all stages—proto, fit, pre-production, and top-of-production—to confirm design intent and quality.
- Communicate effectively with global vendors to resolve pattern, construction, and grading issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify and implement process improvements that enhance product consistency and efficiency.
- Stay current on fabrications, trims, and technical innovations relevant to Intimates, Sleepwear, and Swimwear.
- Mentor and guide Assistant or Associate Technical Designers as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Design, preferably within Intimates, Sleepwear, or Swimwear.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, and grading—especially in stretch and lightweight materials.
- Proven expertise in fit analysis, drape, and support engineering for bras, swim, and soft apparel.
- Proficient in PLM systems, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
