Status: Freelance, Independent Contractor position

Commitment: 6-10 hours a week for 3 months, then ongoing

Wage Range: $50-$75/hour, commensurate with experience

Location: 100% virtual position, availability during Business Hours Eastern US Time

Quintet Creative seeks a creative and organized Copywriter to produce copy for social media captions, graphic and video text, emails, blogs, and website copy.

This copywriter will be responsible for translating content strategy and brand direction into compelling and engaging copy for clients operating in the mission-driven space, specifically regarding worker’s rights, reproductive healthcare, and education. The subject matter is complex and nuanced, and this copywriter will be responsible for crafting messaging that reflects this nuance, while still resonating with the client’s target audience.

The person in this role will collaborate closely with founder Camille Galles to execute creative copywriting strategies to increase brand awareness and the business goals of our clients.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

Draft compelling social media captions.
Platforms include Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

Draft “collateral” copy for social media assets.
This could include video text labels that “stop the scroll,” copy for Instagram carousels, and/or copy for Instagram Reels cover photos.

Write comprehensive web pages that can serve as issue-based resources.
One of our clients has engaged us to develop a series of web pages that will serve as the “go-to resource” for various issues that they support and educate their community about.
Preparing this web pages will include research, outlining, drafting, and following SEO best practices.

Write copy for fundraising collateral.
One of our clients has engaged us to develop fundraising materials, including web page copy, annual reports and one-pagers, and email copy.
This copy should follow fundraising best practices, while still sounding authentic to our client’s voice.

Write first-person emails that sound like they’re coming from a real person.
Capture our clients’ voice to write letter-style emails that sound like a letter from a mentor or friend, not a brand.

Project Management
Keep tasks assigned to you up-to-date and reflecting reality (ie, completion status) in Quintet Creative’s Asana system.
Manage and update content calendars using Notion.
Track hours in Clockify.

Nerd out about finding exactly the right word and turn of phrase.
Aren’t intimidated by digging through nitty-gritty, long-form research to identify the most compelling and salient points to elevate with short-form content.
Enjoy the challenge of making technical or specialized information more accessible.
Embrace feedback - whether about specific preferred word choices or overall voice and tone - can track, refer back to, and incorporate that feedback in future work.
Can thoughtfully write from a perspective other than your own.
Frequently engage with social videos across platforms and are familiar with video storytelling techniques.
Understand the how and why of what makes successful social media, email, and web copy, and how mission-driven brands could apply those techniques to share their messaging.
Have a strong understanding of basic marketing principles.
Have demonstrated experience crafting copy for multiple brands and/or platforms at once.
An eagle-eye ability to spot typos and strong attention to detail.
Identify as an independent self-starter who is solution-oriented, taking ownership over their assignments and overseeing them to completion.
Have demonstrated experience meeting deadlines, receiving feedback, and communicating progress, questions, and status updates.
Are interested in continuous learning and staying abreast of social media and web platform changes and trends. You'll look forward to the chance to try new things on new platforms.
Have consistent access to wifi, an iPhone, and a laptop or desktop computer.
Have a willingness to collaborate with a teammate who moves quickly and learns on the fly.

Availability & Hours of Work:

A strong preference will be given to a contractor who is available to receive and complete projects and attend Zoom meetings during the hours of 9am to 4pm ET from Monday through Thursday, occasionally on short notice.

If you have mission-driven examples, definitely include them, but that is not required. The examples should demonstrate your understanding of copywriting best practices.
