Job Overview
We're the team behind MKE Lifestyle magazine, a Milwaukee-area monthly print and online publication for more than 30 years. We'd like to partner with experienced freelance writers who can use reliable sources to create in-depth narratives for serious feature-length topics impacting our area: social/health/economic trends, powerful personalities, exposes or analytical stories. We'll work with you to develop concepts and connect with sources.

Responsibilities
- Create compelling articles on diverse topics. (one story per month; 1500+ word count)
- Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and depth in all writing assignments.
- Edit and proofread your work to maintain high editorial standards.
- Communicate effectively.
- Fact-check information to ensure credibility and reliability of content produced.

Qualifications

- Must live in/around the Milwaukee area.
- Proven experience in journalism or freelance writing is preferred.
- Strong proofreading skills with an eye for detail in grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear narratives.
- Ability to edit content for clarity, coherence, and overall quality.
- Proficient in communicating ideas effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Knowledge of various writing styles and adaptability to different tones as needed.
- A portfolio showcasing previous writing samples across different formats is highly desirable.
