What would you do in this role?
The Motley Fool is seeking a dedicated Mobile App Developer with strong expertise in React Native to join our project team on a contract basis. You'll be working closely with our product tech team to develop a new iteration of our mobile app, focusing on enriching user experience, facilitating financial empowerment, and incorporating cutting-edge functionalities.

But what does this role actually do?
- Collaborate with the product tech team to design, develop, and deploy the next iteration of The Motley Fool's mobile application.
- Implement clean, efficient, and responsive user interfaces using React Native.
- Work with the design team to translate Figma designs into functional mobile experiences.
- Utilize Expo for building, deploying, and quickly iterating on iOS and Android apps.
- Integrate and manage APIs connecting to back-end services.
- Employ a component-driven approach to build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
- Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
- Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g., identifying opportunities to streamline user flows, etc).
- Adhere to and advocate for development best practices including code reviews, testing of React Native applications, and proper documentation.
- Provide realistic estimates for project and feature timelines, working within agile methodologies.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and propose improvements to the mobile development process.
What do you need to apply?
- Proven experience in mobile app development with a strong portfolio of projects built on React Native.
- Proficiency in using React Native for both iOS and Android applications.
- Experience with Expo platform for developing and deploying universal React applications.
- Strong competence in translating Figma, Sketch, or other design formats into responsive mobile applications.
- Familiarity with component libraries and the ability to create scalable and reusable components.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript foundations and their practical application.
- Knowledge of state management libraries (e.g., Redux, MobX).
- Experience in implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment, interpret feedback, and take decisive action.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
