WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an Intermediate Freelance Designer (Consultant), Brand Retail Experience, to join us as a consultant for 3 months. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing retail spaces and product placement strategies, ensuring alignment with Global Retail Experience and Visual Merchandising Guidelines. This role involves creating 3D and 2D designs for stores, outposts, events, pop-ups, retailer displays, and custom visual merchandising fixtures.
This is a hybrid role based out of our NYC office.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
- Design and develop 3D retail concepts, including visual merchandising and in-store elements (e.g., tables, displays, windows, outposts, and event designs), and create spec files for regional partners and fixture vendors.
- Collaborate with the brand retail design and creative teams to brainstorm and strategize new concepts and guidelines for product launches or evergreen tools.
- Produce and package production files in both 3D and 2D formats as required.
- Develop a Global Brand Retail Experience strategy for DTC, partnerships, and temporary exposures, ensuring alignment with brand calendars, refreshes, and promotions.
- Provide guidance to regional partners, ensuring high execution standards for all implementations.
- Maintain excellence throughout all creative and execution phases, focusing on budget, timelines, value engineering, and prototype approvals.
- Provide clear weekly updates on project progress during team meetings, coordinating with retail partners, vendors, engineers, and internal teams.
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed on scheduling, merchandising tool deployment, and manage issues in collaboration with key executives.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- University degree or equivalent, preferably in Architecture, Interior, or Industrial Design.
- 3-5 years of design experience in the retail industry, with a focus on beauty and luxury sectors preferred.
- Strong interest in brand retail experience and retail innovations.
- Proven ability to contribute to brand strategy and manage full-scope project design and development.
- Strong understanding of brand guidelines, voice, and aesthetics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects from concept to completion efficiently.
- Extensive knowledge of materials and technical drawing.
- Proficient in Sketch-Up PRO with experience in rendering 3D designs using Enscape, VRay, Cinema 4D, or Keyshot.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with strong graphic design skills.
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills, familiar with tools like Google Slides.
