Job Overview
Midtown Athletic Club is seeking an experienced freelance copy writer to improve the effectiveness of our campaign messaging both to our membership base and prospective members. You will be predominantly responsible for developing the written messaging including taglines around our monthly campaigns. There is also an opportunity to further develop our brand language in the future, assist with new branding language opportunities within the business, and assist with SEO content across our website. This role, and the ideal candidate will have a passion for writing and possess strong written communication skills.
The Goal
Drive membership sales conversion and increase member participation across our 8 clubs.
Responsibilities
Writing clear and concise copy for print and digital that adheres to our overall brand strategy
Interpret creative briefs to develop concepts for execution
Research and understand industry trends and target audiences, through online searches, reviews of existing research, and interviews with subject-matter experts
Write original copy and edit content for a range of marketing and communications materials
Collaborate with a team of creative staff, from concept development to delivery of final product
Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal team
Revise copy based on internal feedback
Qualifications and Skills
Four or more years of professional copywriting experience, with an excellent portfolio of work
Excellent research, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or with a team to meet deadlines
Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability
Strong editorial, proofreading, and writing skills
Experience with SEO copywriting best practices
Experience with social media and content marketing
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
Passion for writing and an interest in luxury fitness branding
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline
Proofreading experience and familiarity with standard style guides
Experience with content management systems
Keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design
Fluency in Canadian French or Spanish
