Explore Southern Utah. Capture the details. Help people picture the experience.
St. George Direct is looking for a Local Storyteller & Community Contributor who enjoys discovering local places, taking engaging photos, and telling people what an experience is really like.
A restaurant, a new shop, a community event, or an interesting local person could become your next story. We want someone who notices the atmosphere, asks good questions, and shares details that help readers decide what to explore themselves.
What you will do
• Visit local businesses, places, and community events.
• Take clear, engaging photos that help tell the story.
• Describe the setting, people, atmosphere, and experience in your own words.
• Talk with owners, organizers, and community members.
• Check practical details and work with us on edits.
• Bring your own local story ideas.
Photography and describing experiences are central parts of this role. Help readers understand what it feels like to be there, what stood out, and what they should know before going. Keep personal impressions honest and factual information accurate.
What we are looking for
• Curiosity about Southern Utah and its people.
• An eye for useful, engaging photos.
• Clear writing that brings a place or experience to life.
• Friendly communication and reliable follow through.
• Availability for local visits when an assignment calls for them.
No journalism degree or professional reporting experience is required. Student work, personal projects, and everyday examples are welcome. You do not need professional camera equipment or a polished portfolio.
