Freelance Videographer & Video Editor

Looking for an extra creative gig alongside your existing work? Algility is hiring an experienced freelance videographer and editor to support media clients through one of its portfolio companies.
You’ll help take content from concept to finished video, contributing creative ideas, writing scripts, filming on location, and editing content for social media and paid advertising.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative concepts, hooks, scripts, and shot lists around client goals.
- Write captions and supporting copy tailored to each audience.
- Travel to scheduled shoots throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
- Film interviews, promotional videos, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Set up cameras, lighting, and microphones.
- Edit footage in DaVinci Resolve, including pacing, color correction, and audio cleanup.
- Add captions, graphics, music, and text overlays using tools such as Captions AI.
- Deliver videos formatted for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and paid social campaigns.
- Incorporate feedback and organize footage, project files, and final exports.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience producing and editing video content for brands or clients.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong filming, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience with creative strategy, copywriting, and scripting.
- Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and familiarity with captioning tools.
- Practical knowledge of camera operation, lighting, framing, and audio.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to drive between RGV cities.
- Ability to manage deadlines, communicate clearly, and work independently.
Equipment
We use a Sony FX30 internally. Experience with the FX30 or a comparable camera is preferred. Your own camera and supporting equipment are welcome but not required. An iPad or tablet for reviewing briefs and shot lists on location is a plus.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a freelance contract engagement at $20 per hour, with an estimated 24 total hours per month covering creative planning, scripting, filming, editing, and revisions.
There is no fixed weekly schedule. Shoot dates and delivery deadlines will be coordinated in advance based on project needs and mutually agreed availability. Deliverables, estimated hours, and revision scope will be agreed upon before each project. Additional hours require approval.
