MissionStaff connects top talent in Business Services, Tech, Marketing & Creative with companies of all sizes, offering flexible, high-touch staffing solutions. We are currently seeking a UX Content Designer for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our clients.
Overview
We’re looking for a UX Content Designer to help improve digital product experiences by making complex technology easier for customers to understand and use. In this role, you’ll shape in-app content and customer journeys for a connected-home experience, translating technical functionality, settings, and data into clear, conversational, and actionable language.
This is a content design role within a product and UX environment, not a traditional copywriting or brand-focused position. You’ll work alongside UX designers, product managers, engineers, legal partners, and other cross-functional stakeholders to explore solutions, refine user flows, and ensure the content works seamlessly within the overall experience.
You’ll help determine not only what the content says, but how information is presented to customers. This may include evaluating how data is communicated, simplifying complex screens, improving navigation, and recommending changes that make digital experiences more intuitive. You’ll collaborate throughout the design process, iterate based on feedback, and use available research and performance insights to inform recommendations.
This is a long-term contract opportunity expected to run through December 2027. The role requires working onsite a minimum of four days per week.
What You’ll Do
Write, edit, and refine in-app content across customer journeys, features, settings, and digital product experiences.
Translate complex technical functionality into clear, conversational, and actionable language that helps customers understand what a product does and how to use it.
Partner with UX designers and product managers to shape end-to-end experiences, considering content, user flows, interactions, and information architecture.
Explore and iterate on content and design solutions throughout the product development process, helping determine how information should be structured and presented.
Evaluate existing experiences to identify opportunities to simplify messaging, improve usability, reduce cognitive load, and make complex information easier to understand.
Collaborate with engineering, legal, and cross-functional partners to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the customer experience.
Maintain consistency across in-app messaging and related digital channels.
Request and evaluate research findings, customer feedback, and product performance insights to inform content recommendations and improvements.
Manage multiple related workstreams in a fast-moving product environment, adapting to evolving priorities and collaborating closely with project partners.
Provide content guidance throughout design and development, incorporating feedback and refining solutions as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in UX writing, content design, or digital product content within a UX and product environment.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in plain, concise, customer-friendly language.
A portfolio featuring high-quality UX content examples that demonstrate plain-language writing, the ability to simplify complex concepts, and thoughtful content design decisions. A portfolio must be included with candidate submittals.
Experience collaborating directly with UX designers and product managers to develop and refine digital product experiences.
Ability to think beyond individual words and evaluate how content works within user journeys, screens, flows, and interactions.
Experience exploring alternatives, iterating on content, and collaborating with design partners throughout the product development process.
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including legal and other partners who influence product content and customer-facing experiences.
Ability to understand technical functionality and translate it into meaningful information that helps customers make sense of what a product is doing.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to context-switch across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Comfort working in a fast-paced product environment where priorities, feedback, and solutions may evolve.
Experience using Figma to collaborate within UX design workflows.
Ability to work onsite at least four days per week.
Nice to Have
Experience with connected-home technology, smart devices, connectivity, or other technically complex digital products.
Familiarity with AI-enabled content engineering tools or emerging tools that support content design workflows.
Experience using customer research, feedback, and product performance insights to evaluate existing experiences and recommend improvements.
Experience designing content for data-rich interfaces, dashboards, settings, or features that help customers understand their usage and behavior.
Experience working with large product teams and navigating multiple adjacent workstreams.
Preferred Background
The ideal candidate has an established background in UX content design and digital product development. They understand how to work alongside designers and product teams to make technology easier to understand, and they are comfortable exploring different ways to communicate information before settling on a solution.
Candidates whose experience is primarily traditional copywriting, advertising, or brand marketing may be less suited to this role without substantial hands-on UX content design experience.
