3di has been providing outsourced technical documentation services to global companies and technology businesses for over 20 years. We’re always looking to connect with experienced Freelance Senior Technical Writers to support our ongoing and upcoming projects across the UK and US.
We’re particularly interested in technical authors with experience documenting hardware, complex equipment and engineering systems, who can turn detailed technical information into clear, accurate and user-focused documentation.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience as a Technical Writer / Technical Author, ideally at Senior level.
- Has hands-on experience with MadCap Flare.
- Has experience documenting hardware, complex equipment or engineering systems.
- Can work closely with engineers and technical SMEs to gather, validate and structure technical information.
- Can produce clear, accurate and well-organised technical documentation for different audiences.
- Can work independently, manage their workload and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Is available for freelance or contract assignments in the UK or US, including on-site work where required.
An engineering degree would be an advantage. Experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or other engineering-related fields would also be highly beneficial.

Working arrangement: Remote, hybrid or onsite, depending on project requirements.
